Laxmi and Shyam Lamichhane

Laxmi Lamichhane and Shyam Lamichhane were given presents on 5th Jan 2008. The gifts were sponsored by Leander Hollings, John Hanson, Sue Johnson, Dani Tougher and MSH- Nepal. Laxmi and Shyam are both sister and brother. Their father is 43 years old and is paralysed on the left side of his body and mother Subhadra Lamichhane died in 2005 due to heart disease. Guru (Laxmi's father) has no source of income and no support. They have no savings as they were spent on the treatment of her mother which was not enough to save her life. Both are currently sponsored by MySmallHelp. Family life is an everyday struggle for survival!

John and Leander Hollings taking Anjali and Alisha to New School

MySmallHelp found Anjali and her sister Alisha in need of desperate support. The MySmallHelp founding child (Anita Gurung) introduced us to these children. Their mother, Chitra Kumari Thapa was abandoned by their father. He ran away with another woman. This is typical of many men in Nepal who often desert their own family. Chitra works in a carpet factory and earns approximately 1000 rupees per month for more than 50 hours a week (approximately 8 pounds). She lives with her two daughters in a small dirty room next to the factory. It is very hard for her to make ends meet. She wants her daughters to study so that they will have a better life in the future. Recently, due to financial crisis she almost had to pull her daughter out of school. The dream of getting her daughters educated and having a better future was almost shattered. We are now helping her in providing education to her daughters. We hope our small help will make a big difference in her and her daughter's life.
Here, in this picture John and Leander are taking Anjali and alisha Thapa to admit them in a new school, their mother is also seen in the picture. Anjali and Alisha's mother was very happy to see her daughters get admitted in a good school and even Anjali and Alisha seemed very excited.
